Managed Care – DAKOTACARE contracts with 100% of all the hospitals in South Dakota and over 98% of all physicians and pharmacies. With participation like that, health care professionals are better able to collaborate and communicate about the health needs of their patients. DAKOTACARE’s managed care activities are carried out in a manner that recognizes and respects the privacy of the patient/physician relationship.

Quality Care – There are more than 7,600 providers in over 200 communities across the state that have their patients’ best interest in mind. Because these physicians participate with DAKOTACARE, they have a greater ability to most effectively manage the treatment options for the patient. Quality in health care is not only DAKOTACARE’s number one priority, but they also know and believe that the highest quality health care is also the lowest cost health care in the long run.

Medical Management – The DAKOTACARE medical management model is focused on proactively preventing illness or injury in defined populations, not simply managing utilization and costs once episodes of care take place.
